There are about 350 000 plant species on our planet today. The ancestors of these plants generated an atmosphere containing Oxigen (O2) and Ozone(O3), filtering dangerous UV-rays and allowing life to thrive on land too. Fuelled by the sun plants accumulate carbon from CO2 converting it to sugar and thereby releasing O2. They provide us and all other animals with the food we eat and the air we breath. Every single carbon atom in our body was once part of a plant.
Now 20% of the plant species on earth are threatened with extinction .
I belief that making aware of what we are about to lose and spreading knowledge of the fascinating world of plants, will help to make a step in the right direction. We want to save what we know, rather than the unknown. One Euro of each sold scent / print shall support the conservation work of Kew Gardens. Further the profits will help to finance the scientific analysis of scents and therefore contribute to generating knowledge about the plant kingdom.
